People were crazy about pets years ago. The particularly popular ones were cats and dogs that look human and have high intelligence. But the boom has died down with time, and now only people who really want them own them. Our main character is a college student who finds a stray anthropoid dog, collapsed in the rain. Unable to let her just die, he takes her up to his room and treats her. Even though he told her she can only stay until the rain ends, the dog stays in fear and worry.
The main character decides to look for her owner.
The life between a human and a dog starts…
I thought that this was going to be a heart-warming story, especially after finishing Hinatabokko. It is in a way; but only after hours of struggle.
The main heroine is Mikan, an anthropoid dog whose owner (Misa) has passed away. She was out cold while looking for her master and the protagonist ‘stumbles’ across her. Mikan and Risa (Misa’s little sister) moves in to the protagonist’s house after the event to help deal with the issue.
The protagonist is a student which also tutors children such as Kana and Seika.
Kana and Kuu (Kana’s cat)
Seika and Kaie (Seika’s dog)
They also rescue Silvie (short for Silviana) from a cruel anthropoid dog breeder.
The protagonist also meets Nadeshiko and Kotarou (pet shop owner and pet respectively) at the local pet shop.
And that’s pretty much all the characters introduced. There’s honestly not much of a story in the middle and there’s two routes- Risa’s and Nadeshiko’s. Risa is my favourite character because she’s just so cheerful and unusual. If I had to go into details, it would be going into spoilers. Maybe.
Mikan was the most developed character (obviously, since she’s the main character) and it was quite moving to learn of her story; especially the ending.
Overall, Wanko to Kurasou has good graphics but the plot is just so bad. I wished that I did more thorough research. Only recommended to those with a fetish towards anthropoids otherwise it’s a total waste of time.
Once you’ve completed the game, extra content is unlocked- but those aren’t very important either.
Fun fact: Seika is voiced by Kazane (Yuri Nakamura from Angel Beats! and Saya Tokido from Little Busters! EX)
