Friday: The first official day seemed to have a slower start but hey its only the first day. The first amazing thing I noticed was there was no line for badge pickup whatsoever which to me gives Fanime a HUGE plus in my books. First thing I did was immediately taking pictures, already there were cosplay meet ups and one free-for-all gathering. Since the first day wasn’t too crowded I transitioned between hanging out in the game room, the dealers hall, and the artist alley for the remaining daylight. As soon as night hit though it was different, it calmed down considerably. Everyone was either just hanging out or just relaxing a bit since they knew either the rave or the next day will tire them out. I attempted the rave but left shortly after for the hentai room. Yes you heard me I went into the hentai room but it isn’t what you think….it wasn’t shady business going inside but the massive amounts of laughter and jokes from every direction. As I took the shuttle back to my hotel I had nice conversations with people around me.
Weekend: The second day started much differently as I was accompanied by friends. That Saturday would be the day attendance would be at its peak and that meant more cosplayers! First thing as always was to run around taking pictures of the cosplayers. Fanime has a really good history of having very diverse cosplayers, especially since Clockwork Academy had joined Fanime. One of the people I had talked to told me that Fanime has a vast variety of cosplayers from anime, video games, and just pop culture.
Since taking pictures was an all-day sort of thing I moved on to different panels such as Martial Arts, Better Cosplay Photos, Artist Alley 101, Swimsuit Contest, and other random ones I paid a visit to. The rest of the day was constant bouncing around and finding people. I unfortunately did not get to visit the Clockwork Academy and I wish I did….all the Clockwork Academy people were just too awesome.
The gaming room was where I spent a lot of time since it was always going on at all hours. I played Touhou, giant jenga, Gundam vs Gundam, Super Smash Brothers, and other random games. The gaming hall was probably one of the best locations to just hang out in between things.
Since the weekend was coming to a close, I unfortunately had to leave a day early but that did not stop me from enjoying the con to the very last moment. Then you know Post Con Depression kicks in, I am glad I was able to come to Fanime this year. One of the best con experience I have had in a long time.
Oh forgot one last picture, this was my favorite cosplay Flandre-Sama~
