Happy May everyone! While we’re making preparations for Fanime next week we wanted to update everyone on Idea Factory International’s upcoming releases!
First off we have Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 3: V Generation! This is the Vita remake of Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory which was released back in March 2013. For the plot, our heroine Neptune gets sucked into an alternate past dimension of Gamindustri. While much of the world looks familiar in structure, the characters seen are very much different. A new threat arises so Neptune needs to once again save the world(s). To get out of the other dimension she needs to collect sufficient shares along with other requirements.
We praised Victory as the changes it had got was applied to remakes and future ports of Neptunia, whether it was the dungeon system or another mechanic. There is more customization in attack combos in the Vita version along with extra characters that lead to more stories. With the resources within the game, you can modify dungeons to change item drops and enemy difficulty, essentially changing the entire blueprint. For those that played Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 2, Stella’s Dungeon is back, which is a real time mini-game that sends Stella on various missions. Now Stella can bring friends along to support her. Japanese audio will also be available as free DLC. With the amount of crafting, levelling, and content, we are certain players will get solid value out of playing this game on the Vita as it is relishing newer content and previous nuances from the original series are not to be seen.
This game will arrive in North America and Europe in Summer 2015 for the Playstation Vita with a Fall 2015 release on Steam.
Next on the list is Amnesia: Memories. This is an otome visual novel game where you play as the heroine who has amnesia and need to piece together what was forgotten to salvage a lasting love story or have it disappear for naught. The game’s nature will have different paths to take. The big catch is that you cannot have the main men you know of find out you have amnesia, yet you also cannot be too suspicious either!
We are thrilled that Amnesia: Memories will be coming out considering that there has been very few otome games licensed in the West. The system allows you to choose your lover at the start, which affects the world and relationships around the heroine. It also brings in dating sim parameters which are affection, trust and suspicion. These are affected by your choices in game and will change the probability of gaining a ‘good’ ending. Amnesia also makes the most of the system by including simple mini-games and Gallery events which makes use of Vita’s touchscreen functionality. The illustrator, Hanamura Mai, has a very unique style and her CGs adds to the experience of the game. Amnesia had an anime adaptation back in 2013, so for those looking to get into more of the story we recommend playing the game as it has over 20 different possible endings.
Amnesia: Memories will be only available digitally for the PlayStation Vita in August with a PC Steam release later this year.
We are also very excited about the upcoming Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed game developed by Tamsoft, also known for developing Senran Kagura games. Naturally this game is a hack and slash type of game where you control one major character and plow through thousands of different enemies. You not only get a partner that you can swap with, but you also fight stronger foes usually in the form of other characters or boss type characters. Similar to Senran Kagura, not only are the arena battle styles very similar, but there’s even clothing damage in this game.
Each of the major consoles are represented in the form of CPUs which are girls with lots of power. The series itself plays on the console war, so naturally there’s a lot of clashes and arguments and even cooperation. Since the characters are already combat and territory control oriented, we find they fit in an open combat system even more than an RPG. With the nature of the characters having plenty of comedic instances, even the plotline for getting bored and duelling is amusing, it fits right in!
Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed will be available only for the PlayStation Vita for $39.99. The game comes out next week on May 19 in North America and May 22 in Europe.
We have also been recently notified that Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 2 for Steam on PC has been delayed to June 2nd. There are some more kinks to work out to make sure the PC version runs smoothly. Unfortunately this will not release with Action Unleashed as intended, but the delay unlikely will be problematic. Like Re;Birth 1, this game will be $29.99 and have a 50% off discount on the opening days. Fairly good value to start the summer!
