We at Neko’s Shiritori were honored to be invited to the Idea Factory International 2nd event in downtown San Francisco! The location of the event was at the basement of Rickhouse, a 21+ bar. It was pretty amusing to see a Neptunia banner on a stand next to a bouncer after passing through a narrow sea of customers.
At 6:30 PM the doors to the basement opened and we had the honor of meeting the IFI team of David, Ari, and Nao! After descending the staircase, we were then greeted with another banner from Trillion. Refreshments came in the form of Neptunia titled drinks of each CPU with other combinations available with the bartender. Stations for both the Vita and PS4 were hooked up at a gaming corner for people to try out.
Around an hour into the event everyone gathered and were introduced to staff of Compile Heart, starting with Masahiro Yamamoto who used to work at Nippon Ichi Software and was previously in charge of the Disgaea series. He introduced upcoming games and noted that Trillion uses a much different approach than Disgaea.
We saw trailers of each of the various games slated for a 2016 release, which are as follows:
Megadimension Neptunia VII (Website) – Features three dimensions and a plethora of new content. VII will feature one of these three dimensions called the Zero Dimension that the player will traverse to. New features include characters linking up for stronger attacks, a “Parts Break” system that allows you to split enemies into pieces to lower their stats and disable special attacks, as well as “Giant Battles” where limits are imposed onto you.
Trillion (Website) – Features a boss with a trillion HP and a limited time frame to prepare for the big battle!
We also had the chance to talk with Hiroko Nagai, a member of the Trillion team. We got a chance to start from the beginning of the game where you are introduced to the characters and gradually learn of the game’s mechanics. You’re basically an overlord who has overlord candidates named after deadly sins to train and power up for the ensuing battles. The game has a limited amount of turns before the big battle and provides plenty of challenge with managing enough growth to beat the boss, strategy is vital in Trillion!
To round out the PS4 game announcements, Fairy Fencer F – Advent Force will also release in 2016! Main features include six characters battling in party, three story paths, three levels of difficulty and new mechanics such as avalanche attacks and resonance effects.
MegaDimension Neptunia VII will be first of the PS4 games to come out in February 2016, look forward to it!
Regarding Vita games, Megatagmension Blanc + Neptune vs Zombies were announced! This was the mystery game announced for a Spring 2016 release.
For Steam releases, Monster Monpiece, HyperDimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed and Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart were announced. Spring 2016 looks to be the season of Compile Heart games in English!
We thank the IFI team for the invitation to this event and look forward to what they have in store next!
