VISUAL NOVEL DEVS UNITE
Zetsuna here, this time covering an online conference for visual novel (time to drink) developers by VN developers. It’s not only the seasoned pros though, but rather including and welcoming amateur and pro alike in a gathering of enthusiasts, in a mission to learn from each other.
So here I am, writing an aftermath article on one doozy of a conference hosted on the morning of Saturday January 14. Talks from experts ranged from business/project management, creative (artist, writer, and composer), and programmer perspectives.
There have been quite a few releases after a quiet month, starting with MangaGamer’s sci-fi doujin Himawari -The Sunflower- by Frontwing! Youichi and his friend Ginga spend their days in the Space Club building a rocket, when one day they stumble upon a girl named Aries who had crash-landed close-by.
Japanese School Life has been released on Steam by Sekai Project and code:jp! This is their first original IP where you play as Brian, a foreign exchange student in Japan. He gets along with two girls (Chiyoko and Arisa) in his class and spends the seasons with them, with many events to go to such as Comiket and the summer festivals.
Frontwing and Tokyo Otaku Mode have relaunched the Sharin no Kuni crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, with a goal of $80k. Sharin no Kuni is a popular visual novel made by AKABEi SOFT2 (G-senjou no Maou), which is set in a society where ‘Duties’ are imposed on those who break the law. The Special Elite rank is given to individuals which oversee the criminals. Morita Kenichi moves to a country town in the hopes of passing his final exam of supervising four of his female classmates’ rehabilitation.
Uzumeya’s fantasy mystery visual novel ENIGMA: has been released on Steam!
ENIGMA: is set in a world where people have been infected with the mysterious disease, “The Enigma.” Afflicted with this disease, Chester finds himself washed up on an isolated island named Carlyle where the inhabitants are oblivious to the epidemic. There is a white forest in the middle of the island called Enigma which has been told to devour people.

AL･FINE is a game developed by CrimsonRabbit and published by Sekai Project which has been released on Steam! The player can play as Louis, tasked with running an item shop in a world of humans, sprites and kindred.
The goal is to become the number one merchant in the town of Notte Luce, but it’s easier said than done! There are variables which will affect the number of people visiting the store such as time and weather, and some items are only available through exploring dungeons.
The game is now on Steam for $14.99/£10.99.
