This week marks the release of three visual novels on Steam; Hoshizora no Memoria -Wish upon a Shooting Star-, A Clockwork Ley-Line: The Borderline of Dusk, and SeaBed. All of these are available with a 10% discount for the first week until 4th January 2018.
Hoshizora no Memoria is a romantic visual novel from Favorite. After their mother passes away, Kogasaka You and Chinami move to live with their aunt back in Hibarigasaki where they once lived. Before he moved to the city, You made friends with a girl on an observatory lookout where he spent his time every day. The girl made him promise that they would get married once You returned to Hibarigasaki after finding out that he would be moving.
After returning, he joins the astronomy club at school, starts working at the local cafe and finds that the lookout has been fenced-off. There he discovers a scythe-wielding girl named Mare who looks strangely like his childhood friend. Who is she really, and will You find the girl he made the promise with?
Life a Little’s slice-of-life romance visual novel, A Butterfly in the District of Dreams (originally titled Dare ka ga Koi Shita Hankagai, or Darekoi for short), has been released by Sekai Project! First released in Japan in 2013, Darekoi is set in a town named Olive Village, which happens to be paradoxically old-fashioned and refreshingly new. Further confounding regular perception, time seems to not pass at all beyond the course of a regular day. Thus our protagonist, Yumesaki Haruki, strays from the university path and partakes of the story of Olive Village and its residents.
Unisonshift’s A Clockwork Ley-Line trilogy is now on Kickstarter! Set in an isolated boarding school with a clock tower deep in the mountains, the protagonist Koga Michiru is a first year student who accidentally breaks an expensive-looking statue on his first day. Along with the other boy who caused the incident, the principal orders them to work for the school’s ‘Bureau for the Investigation of Special Affairs’. There they learn that magic exists and once the clock chimes, the ‘Realm of Night’ appears and together they try to protect the school from magical items known as ‘Mists’.
Purple Software’s time-travelling visual novel ChronoClock has been released by Sekai Project! It previously had a Kickstarter campaign to offer backers limited edition goods and a collector’s edition of the game. This was incredibly successful and raised over four times the original goal of $20,000.
The Steam version of the game is now available with a 20% discount for $23.99/£18.39 until 7th March (normally retailing at $29.99/£22.99).
Japanese School Life has been released on Steam by Sekai Project and code:jp! This is their first original IP where you play as Brian, a foreign exchange student in Japan. He gets along with two girls (Chiyoko and Arisa) in his class and spends the seasons with them, with many events to go to such as Comiket and the summer festivals.
AL･FINE is a game developed by CrimsonRabbit and published by Sekai Project which has been released on Steam! The player can play as Louis, tasked with running an item shop in a world of humans, sprites and kindred.
The goal is to become the number one merchant in the town of Notte Luce, but it’s easier said than done! There are variables which will affect the number of people visiting the store such as time and weather, and some items are only available through exploring dungeons.
The game is now on Steam for $14.99/£10.99.
